EMERGENCY 9-1-1
The City of Oakridge Fire & EMS was awarded a grant of free Narcan for distribution to our city responders and to the general public.
In the event of any medical emergency, immediately call 9-1-1. If the person is suspected of having overdosed on opioids like Fentanyl or heroin, then Naloxone (Narcan) should immediately be administered by anyone.
The Oakridge Fire and EMS Fire Department, along with the Oakridge Police Department and Department of Public Works personnel, will be trained in and carry this life-saving drug. Additionally, the Fire and Police personnel will also have additional supplies of Narcan to "leave behind" with the victim and the Good Samaritans who may have rendered aid. The State of Oregon's www.reverseoverdose.org is available 24/7 with training and resources.
