About Us

Our Mission

The City of Oakridge is dedicated to providing life-saving paramedic and fire services to the citizens of the community.  Ensuring that lives, as well as structures, can be saved in an emergency is a critical service that ensures prosperity, growth, and the well-being of the general public.

We Save You Money

If you are a home/business owner in the Cities of Oakridge or Westfir and/or Hazeldell Rural Fire Protection District, your business/home owner’s insurance premiums may be decreased thanks to a new Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating of Oakridge Fire & EMS. Oakridge Fire & EMS was able to improve its rating from a “5” to a “4” in areas that have a hydrant system. From an “8” to a “5” in areas that are within 5 miles of a fire station, but do not have a hydrant system. From a “10” to a “10W” in areas that are within 5 to 7 miles of a fire station and have no hydrant system. In ISO’s rating system they use a 1-10 scale. The lower the number the better the agency's rating is. The rating system is designed to reflect how quickly and efficiently a firefighting force is able to respond to a fire emergency. Check with your insurance agent to make sure your insurance premiums reflect these new rates.

About the Department

Oakridge is nestled in eastern Lane County off of Oregon Route 58, also known as Willamette Highway 18.  Oakridge is a small community with a population of 3,500.  Oakridge Fire & EMS is governed by the City of Oakridge.  The Fire Department is a combination department consisting of full-time career staff under IAFF Local 851, part-time staff, and volunteers that operate under a non-profit 501(c)3.

We respond to over 1,000 calls per year, with more than 87% of those being ambulance calls. The average ambulance call takes 3 hours from the 911 call to return to the station. OFD Operates 2 full-time medic units and a 3rd out when available.

Our ambulances respond to over 2,200 square miles, the largest ambulance service area provider in Lane County.  Our Fire Service area is Oakridge city limits with an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with both Hazeldell Rural Fire District and the City of Westfir to respond to all emergency calls.
